Overview

iQibla ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") is an Islamic companion app providing a Qibla compass, prayer times, the Holy Quran with audio recitation, Duaa & Athkar supplications, and a daily reading tracker.

This Privacy Policy explains exactly what information the App handles, what leaves your device, and where it goes. It applies to the iOS version of iQibla, including its Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets.

Location Data

iQibla asks for access to your device's location to provide its two core features. This is the only information the App transmits off your device.

Your location is used to:

• Calculate the Qibla direction — the bearing toward the Kaaba in Makkah
• Calculate prayer times for your position
• Display the name of your city or region on screen

iQibla can also calculate prayer times entirely on your device, without any network connection. This is used when the App cannot reach the prayer-times service — for example on a flight, or on a first launch without a connection — and it means the App keeps working while sending nothing at all.

You can revoke location access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → iQibla. The Qibla compass and prayer times require it; the rest of the App continues to work without it.

Device Sensors

iQibla uses your device's compass (magnetometer) to rotate the Qibla needle in real time. This requires your permission, which iOS requests separately.

Compass readings are processed on your device as they arrive and are never stored or transmitted anywhere.

Notifications

iQibla asks permission to send you local notifications at prayer times, optionally a reminder shortly before each prayer, and optionally a reminder for the Duha prayer.

These are local notifications: they are scheduled by the App on your device from your own prayer times. There is no push server, no device token is registered, and no notification data is sent anywhere.

You can turn notifications off entirely in iOS Settings, or choose which prayers notify you inside the App under Settings → Prayer Notifications.

Third-Party Services

iQibla fetches Islamic content from the services below. Only the first two ever receive anything derived from you, and what they receive is stated plainly.

iQibla also includes Adhan, an open-source prayer-time calculation library that runs entirely on your device and makes no network connections of any kind.

iQibla contains no advertising networks, no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting, no social login, and no in-app purchases. There are no ads, and there never will be.

Information We Do Not Collect

We operate no servers and hold no database. We do not collect, receive, or store:

• Your name, email address, or phone number
• Device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or device fingerprints
• Usage analytics, behavioural data, or crash reports
• Any history of your location or movements
• Payment or financial information
• Your contacts, photos, calendar, or other device data

Your location is transmitted to the services named above so the App can function, as described in the Location Data section. It is never sent to us, never combined with anything identifying, never sold, and never shared with data brokers or advertisers.

Data Stored On Your Device

The following is saved on your device only, and never leaves it:

• Prayer times already retrieved, so the App works offline and its widgets can display them
• Your calculation method, Asr madhab, athan sound, and notification choices
• Bookmarked ayahs and saved Athkar
• Tasbih counts, Athkar counters, and daily reading (wird) progress
• Display preferences such as theme, reader text size, and reciter

Some of this is kept in a shared container so that iQibla's widgets can read your prayer times without launching the App. That container is private to iQibla and is not accessible to other apps.

Deleting the App removes all of it permanently.

Sharing an Ayah or Dua

iQibla can render an ayah or supplication as an image for you to share. The image is created entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded anywhere. Where it goes afterwards is whatever you choose in the iOS share sheet, and is then governed by the privacy policy of the app you send it to.

Children's Privacy

iQibla is suitable for users of any age. It contains no advertising, no social features, no user-generated content, and no way to contact other users.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). The App requests location solely to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction, and that location is never associated with any person.

Your Rights

Because we operate no servers and hold no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. Everything the App knows is on your device, under your control.

You can:

• Revoke location access at Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → iQibla
• Turn off notifications at Settings → Notifications → iQibla
• Remove everything the App has stored by deleting it

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App changes or as the law requires. Any update is posted on this page with a revised date at the top. Continuing to use the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
